Science + Sons is working on a new product called Radio Canada . For listeners of CBC Radio 1 and CBC Radio 2 , this is the ultimate radio in a beautifully designed enclosure of maple and aluminum. I saw a prototype of this radio at the Interior Design Show in Toronto and would love to have one of these radios sitting on my desk. You won't be able to purchase one until October 2010. Changing measuring systems can mean big differences in results, and that's what appears to be happening with widespread use of "portable people meters" of PPMs, little devices that pick up what a sample of the population (all volunteers) is listening to. PPMs have been use in Montreal and 12 major areas in the US for a year now, with some disconcerting results, particularly in the US. (Previously, the rating were based on listener diaries. My hat is off to CBC. Their CBC Radio iPhone App is first rate. It's nicely designed and most importantly it works perfectly. Some of the features include: 19 live streams more than 60 of CBC's most popular programs on-demand archived episodes a favourites list so you can go straight to the programs you love listen to your local frequency set a sleep timer browse CBC.ca while you listen Some people have complained about the lack of live streams for their particular city.
