Allison Fisher and Ralf Souquet Earn 9-Ball Gold Medals in World Games

The results are in from the World Games in Kaohsiung, Chinese Taipei and Great Britain's Allison Fisher, along with Germany's Ralf Souquet have claimed the gold medals!

Fisher and Souquet played hard to each arrive at the final 16 of their respective brackets, and from there it was the best of competitive play between the world's greatest players!

Allison Fisher defeated Jasmin Ouschan by the narrowest of margins 9-8 to capture the Gold Medal, previously won by Ouschan herself. Fisher was brilliant throughout the tournament, taking wins over South African Aprsa Panchoo 9-3, former world champ and Taiwanese favorite Shin Mei Lu 9-5, and 2008 world champ, Taiwan's other favorite, Y.C. Lin 9-5 before putting an end to Ouschan's hopes in a thrilling final bout that went all the way to the hill.

In the men's 9-Ball event, Ralf Souquet defeated Great Britain's David Reljic 11-6, squeaked by Leonardo Didal 11-10, then took on Stephane Cohen 11-6 to reach the finals. There, he defeated Chinese Taipei's own Ching-Shun Yang 11-4.

The only Americans to survive to the final 16 were on the women's side. Both Vivian Villarreal and Jeanette Lee finished in a 5-8 tie.
