TAN ( The Assimilated Negro ) makes jokes and broad sweeping generalizations in Shirts and Skins , his weekly exploration of race and sports. His opinions , like this tagline, may change at any moment.
One of the NFL’s major stories this year could be an American sitcom called the “The Assimilation of Randy Moss.”
At the start of the season Moss was a down-and-out malcontent; a tarnished diamond in the rough of the NFL projects known as the... Read Full Story

New England Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel threw four touchdown passes, two to former Oakland Raiders wide receiver Randy Moss, the Patriots scored 35 points before half time, and simply beat up the Raiders Sunday at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum 49-26. New England dominated this game from the start, and even when the victory was assured never let up. With the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets both victorious the Patriots are still in a three-way tie for first in the AFC East Division... Read Full Story

The agent for Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss sent an e-mail to the Boston Globe in which he defended Moss against accusations that he injured a woman in Florida in a domestic violence incident. The agent, Tom DiPiero, says the woman and her lawyer have threatened Moss in an attempt to extort money from him. After repeated threats that they would make life miserable for Moss if he didn’t pay the accuser money, DiPiero writes:

Two Oakland Raiders defensive players are a bit lighter in the pocketbook this week; according to Josh Dubow of the Associated Press, defensive tackle Warren Sapp was fined $75,000 by the NFL for his confrontation with game officials that led to his ejection last week. Specifically, the league said Sapp was punished for “physical and verbal actions toward game officials that drew an unprecedented three unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and ejection from last Sunday’s game.”

You people just don’t get Jerry Rice . When discussing Patriots wide receiver, Randy Moss , and his assault on Rice’s 20-year, 22-touchdown reception record, the former 49ers star was joshing when he made these comments to the Associated Press earlier this month :
“The only thing that bothers me a little bit is that I did it during the strike year,” Rice told the AP. “It was 12 games for me. If he had done it in 12 games, I wouldn’t have a problem... Read Full Story
Is Warren Sapp ready to hang it up? That’s the buzz around the league, as NFL Network’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Sapp told his teammates at a team meeting Friday that he is planning on hanging it up and is going to retire. The defensive tackle has had a tremendous career, spanning 13 seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Oakland Raiders. If he retires, he would walk away with one Super Bowl ring, 96.5 sacks, and seven Pro Bowls.
He was named as the defensive player of... Read Full Story

Who’s the NFL MVP this year? There’s no doubt in my mind that if he stays healthy, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will win. But there’s an interesting little debate brewing about whether Brady’s teammate, wide receiver Randy Moss , might actually be more deserving.
Representing the pro side, Jason Whitlock :
Seriously, denying Randy Moss this year’s Associated Press MVP award would be borderline criminal….
Moss should not and cannot be... Read Full Story
From National Football Post and Special to NFL Gridiron Gab
League sources have confirmed to us here at The National Football Post that the NFL League Office has sent Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis a letter informing him that he was in violation of NFL league rules when he falsely accused the New England Patriots of tampering with then Raider wide receiver Randy Moss. This violation of NFL team policy and guidelines will certainly come with a hefty fine. Read Full Story
