Randy Moss Agent: ‘I Contacted the FBI’ About Threats From Accuser, Lawyer

The agent for Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss sent an e-mail to the Boston Globe in which he defended Moss against accusations that he injured a woman in Florida in a domestic violence incident. The agent, Tom DiPiero, says the woman and her lawyer have threatened Moss in an attempt to extort money from him. After repeated threats that they would make life miserable for Moss if he didn’t pay the accuser money, DiPiero writes:
On Friday afternoon, I contacted the FBI and the US Attorneys’ Offices here in Charleston about his threats. [The accuser’s lawyer] McGill claimed to be driving to the courthouse to file the complaint. I asked if by six figures, he meant $100,000 and he told me to quit “nickel and diming” him. The filing time passed on Friday and he was upset that he had not filed before the Patriot game on Saturday. He kept pushing me to make a big offer. We asked him for a figure and after refusing for awhile, he gave us one, “$500,000, take it or leave it.” …
I want the U. S. Attorneys Offices in Miami and Charleston, the Prosecuting Attorney of Dade County and the Florida State Bar, whoever has jurisdiction over Mr. McGill’s conduct, to know that I am ready to meet with any and all of them and to testify regarding the blatant threats and attempts to extort money from my client
Say this for Moss and his agent: They’re not hiding behind a wall of silence or refusing to answer questions about this incident. They’re coming forward and giving their side of the story, and to these ears, their side of the story sounds credible.
