We're all well aware of the ugliness of racism, ageism, sexism and homophobia, but did you know that so-called 'gingers' - people with red, orange, or strawberry blond hair, are victims of 'gingerism' and being targeted by bullies for something so benign as their hair colour? Likely all of us have heard the jokes at one time or another, it's the one 'ism' that seems to be widely accepted as okay to indulge in, as if those with flame-tinted hair are somehow intrinsically different and therefore deficient and deserving of ridicule. Here's a law every state should have on its books: Anyone convicted of murdering his or her spouse should not be allow to marry again. What's the difference between pro wrestling and a three-ring circus? Answer: Two rings! I'm constantly finding new ways to accidentally inflict physical pain on myself. Whenever someone tells me something like, ".....that's the way it is in my book", I respond by saying, "I haven't read your book, I'm waiting for the movie!" I've been cooped up indoors for the last 48 hours, recovering from my over-indulgence this weekend -- so I decided to go to Plantation Heritage Park , not far from my apartment. I took the photos above with my iPhone. I've ... Read Full Story

E ye sometimes see lots of little things that get under my skin… Not enough to make up a full blog—but rather just enough bits and pieces to aggravate me… So, let’s get to the rants…. MIGHT AS WELL JUMP….. We’ve seen what happened to the original concept of the Wall Street bailout… The people who convinced us it was needed immediately to save the banks suddenly reversed course.. In the meantime, everybody whose ever wanted a government handout from the auto industry to cities like Phoenix, Atlanta and Philadelphia have put their hand out demanding a piece of the action… The latest whiner— ... Here it is, Rants! & Raves!, your weekly opportunity to sound off about the week past. Remember the rules: A Rave! is something that happened during the past week that you’re pleased about and is signified by the word “Rave!” and/or an appropriately peppy emoticon (see Website Help to learn how to use emoticons, aka “smileys”). A Rant! is something [...]

My water bill just came. I've been using about 4,000 gallons a month according to my bills, but I cut my water usage in half to 2,000 on this bill. Total savings: a little over a dollar. One lousy dollar! I'm done with conserving as there is no benefit for me. Yeah, yeah, some of you say conserving is good for the environment, blah, blah, blah. Over two-thirds of this planet is covered by water. We will never have water problems. Westsiders...

RAVE: For Ole Miss running back Rodney Scott, who had the presence of mind to ignore his training and lie still under a pileup on the football field. In doing so, he may have kept a neck injury to Auburn safety Zac Etheridge from being much worse than it was.

A recent ranter [Oct. 30] pointed out that Herschel Walker set his touchdown record (49 TDs) in three years and that the record did not include three bowl games. He or she further pointed out: "they played an 11-game season and there was no SEC championship game. Not to mention, Herschel rarely played a fourth quarter in 1982, his Heisman season."read more
