Japanese label Issey Miyake sent out a spinning wheel of color for its eye-popping spring-summer 2010 ready-to-wear collection Friday. Models in watercolor print leggings and lightweight shirts shaped like kites traced a dizzying ballet of concentric circles on the extra-wide catwalk. In the collection notes, designer Dai Fujiwara explained he had culled patterns from around the world and mixed them up, giving, for example, a Celtic print a bright tropical punch. The result was a fun, upbeat collection of heat-beating summer wear. Long jackets made from straw-colored ribbon that looked like woven baskets were worn over rauched leggings in fluorescent shades. Light summer dresses ... Read Full Story

Posted by CShoq Admin | Filed under Music , News , accesories , watch Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake , known for his technology-driven clothing designs and fragrances, presents to us his new line of watches. Entitled ‘ Trapezoid Al ’, the 82 gram timepieces are the result of a collaboration between Miyake and industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa. When asked about the concept of the watches, Fukasawa explains: “As the name “TRAPEZOID” suggests, I first had the image of a trapezoid form in rotation. So, the bezel is cut steeply, and a tachymeter is provided on it. Numbers are proportioned like speed limits painted ... Read Full Story

Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake, who survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, has urged US President Barack Obama to visit the city on the anniversary of the attack as part of his drive to rid the world of nuclear arms. "I realized that I have, perhaps now more than ever, a personal and moral responsibility to speak out as one who survived what Mr. Obama called the 'flash of light,'" the designer wrote in an opinion piece published in the International Herald Tribune on Wednesday. He said he hoped Obama would accept an invitation by the southern port city to commemorate the 64th anniversary ... Read Full Story

Issey Miyake's "Pleats Please" designer clothing line is being presented in a most tasteful manner - by dressing up the fabrics to look like sushi! Japanese designer Issey Miyake is a master of his art - at 71, he's had lots of time to perfect his vision of high quality, tastefully tailored clothing. Miyake's "Pleats Please" line for 2009 has excellent eye appeal on its own but a mouth-watering ad campaign by Taku Satoh Design Office is appealing to a different sense: that of taste. The images shown here portray elements of Miyake's famous "Pleats Please" line laid out to approximate the look of ... Read Full Story

Many fashion designers resort to luxurious and expensive fabrics and materials to please their clients and critics. The day my first pair of designer shoes showed up on my door step from Gilt Groupe I sat in awe at the detail of the expensive beading that I could only find in $210 shoes. Not that there is anything wrong with expensive detailing and materials, it’s just not always practical, nor does it tickle everyone’s fancy. And that’s how Raquel Allegra likes it. She adores reducing, reusing, and recycling clothing; especially LA County Jail t-shirts. Those tees, with the sweat, smell, and general ickiness associated ... Read Full Story

The Japanese designer Issey Miyake has a new women’s perfume, A Scent by Issey Miyake ($89 for 50ml eau de toilette, plus a full range of body products, at both Holt Renfrew and The Bay).
