" Yet -- and I mean this -- not everyone deserves to be special. Pixar gets this, and their oeuvre supports that claim.* The exceptional rise to the top, while those of the status quo get left behind. " -WHayes on Disney Pixar's Up I feel like I've heard this somewhere before... Ohh that's right... Disney Pixar itself expressed much the same sentiment in another one of their movies already.... Disney Pixar's "Ratatouille's" main character, a rat named Remy, strives to become a great chef... Read Full Story
Hey there. Just got through watching this film with the kids and I must say, I enjoyed it very much. C'mon now, a cooking rat that interacts with humans? You don't see that everyday and you see plenty of crazy things out there in the world of animation. Far and beyond, my favorite line of the movie is, "I don't mean to be rude but... we're French" Oh man, I laughed my ass off on that one. So this story is basically a "find yourself" type flick. A rat named Remy strives to be a cook, but... Read Full Story
Ratatouille is a 2007 animated feature film produced by Pixar. It tells the story of Remy (voiced by Patton Oswalt), a rat living in Paris who wants to be a chef. The film was directed by Brad Bird, who took over from Jan Pinkava in 2005, and it was released on June 29, 2007 in the United States. Remy (Patton Oswalt) lives in a French country house with his rat colony, led by his father Django (Brian Dennehy). Unlike his kin, Remy is a foodie. His innate ability to smell ingredients in food... Read Full Story
When I first heard about Disney releasing Ratatouille Chardonnay I didn’t think it was that good of idea.
IMHO Ratatouille isn’t a kids movie. Having a line of Ratatouille Chardonnay would be a great way to tie the movie to the adult audience. But it is an animated movie and it features a cute rat and it was marketed towards kids. Placing a character that appeals to children on wine, isn’t the best of ideas. Children would want it. If their parents drank it, they would want to try it... Read Full Story
As Ratatouille winds down, a food critic explains within a review that, ultimately, criticism is easy, and the real ‘fun’ involved comes by way of a well-crafted skewering. But, he quickly adds, there is occasionally something wonderful, and being able to coherently remark upon this fact is the true joy, the thing that makes it all worthwhile.
I’m paraphrasing.
Not all critics are apt to jump at such being their personal mantra, but there is much truth in it. In the end, as... Read Full Story
Food is fuel. You get picky about what you put in your tank, your engine is gonna die. Now shut up and eat your garbage. -- Django Ratatouille is currently number 154 of the top 250 of all time on IMDB . I have to disagree highly with the praise that movie has gotten. It won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature against Persepolis and Surf's Up . I did not see the latter, but it must have been slim pickings that year if the movie won. The movie centers around Remy (Patton Oswalt ), a... Read Full Story
A very cute fun film for the whole family. And even though I don't have children or grand children, I found the movie quit enjoyable even for an old fart like me. Remy, (Patton Oswalt) a small city rat, with dreams of making it as a big time French chef. Unlike the rest of his family and friends, Remy prefers dinning on the finer foods that have great taste to them. He's been reading an Anyone Can Cook Book, and has discovered many secret ingredients that aid in the flavor of food. Remy... Read Full Story
Not just for children, this clever animation is both an exploration and celebration of fine cuisine.
Remy the Rat is a would-be-chef and food lover whose enthusiasm for ingredients, flavours and creativity is the driving force of the narrative and is illustrated beautifully by the graphics. His mentor, the late Auguste Gusteau (clever plays on words abound), famously declared that “Anyone Can Cook”. The film shows that, while this is true, dedication combined with a love and understanding... Read Full Story
