By Alistair Bedingford
A raw vegan is someone who, at least 75% of the time eats vegan food that has not been heated above 115F. While a raw food vegan diet seems like a pretty specialized diet there are actually sub categories of raw veganism. This article spotlights 3 of the more popular sub categories of a vegan diet.
Sub Category 1 - Raw Fruitarians
A Fruitarian takes the ethical mandate of a vegetarian diet one step further. While a vegetarian does not believe in destroying any animal to feed themselves a Fruitarian extends this to plants. They don?t believe that any plant should be killed in order for them to eat. A Fruitarian diet consists of seeds, nuts and fruit, only food than can be harvested from a plant. Fruitarians need to take special care to ensure that their diets have enough protein in them.
Sub Category 2 - Raw Sproutarian
The Sproutarian takes a different view to eating than the Fruitarian. They eat sprouted food, because they believe that by doing so they can consume the life force of the plant embryo. The Sproutarian diet requires taking legumes, seeds or grains and getting them to sprout before eating them.
Sub Category 3 - Raw Juicearian
The Juicearian diet requires that food is juiced before it can be consumed. The juice can come from either fruits or vegetables.
Wheat grass shots are very popular in the Juicearian diet. Since wheat grass can live potted on a counter top it can be harvested juiced and consumed in a matter of minutes. This is done to get the largest amount of life force from the plant.
Sproutarians, Juicearians, and Fruitarians are 3 unique subcategories of a raw vegan diet each with their own methods and beliefs. Enjoy learning more about veganism and the health benefits that result from a raw diet. - 28258
