When one considers that reincarnation is accepted in practically all religions including Christianity, Buddhism and Hinduism to name just a few, then we are forced to acknowledge the fact that the belief in past lives is extremely far reaching. Karma and reincarnation are related beliefs that have been popular in India and surrounding countries for a very long time. Karma means action. The idea is, at it's simplest, that good is rewarded and evil punished. Or more practically put: selfishness is punished and unselfishness rewarded. I was listening to a Book on CDs entitled “Eat, Pray, Live, by Elizabeth Gilbert. She was telling a story about an Ashram she staying at to help her spirituality. She used a metaphor that stated something like, her face look like a baby that was reincarnated and was asking itself whether it wanted to go all through this again.
