Recharge smarter

Sanyo's eneloop rechargeable NiMH batteries

Some smart thinking makes eneloop rechargeable batteries far different than old school alkaline batteries and their NiMH relatives. What makes these batteries so different?

Hold a charge longer

Eneloop batteries hold a charge far longer than other rechargeables.  Testing shows the batteries maintains 85% residual capacity after 1 year of storage and 70% residual capacity after 2 years of storage. Competing NiMH batteries turn into paperweights in a fraction of the time.

No ‘memory’ problems

With other rechargeables the recommended usage is to drain the batteries dry before recharging, otherwise a ‘memory’ effect can occur which prevents the batteries achieving a full charge.  Eneloop rechargeables don’t suffer from this effect.  They can be recharged from any state without concern.

Triple A’s double as C’s and D’s

Eneloops come in two flavors - AA and AAA.  But that’s not the end of it.  Eneloop sells spacers that let the AAA batteries parade around as either C or D size.

If that’s not enough to turn the tides, they also come pre-charged.
