As Cillizza notes, mid-cycle, that tends to mean turmoil in GOP land.Trevor Francis, the communications director at the Republican National Committee, is leaving his post, an odd mid-cycle departure that suggests some level of turmoil within the GOP's chief campaign committee.  

Back in May, conservatives on the RNC considered a resolution under which they'd call the Democratic Party the "Democrat Socialist Party". Now, some of the same brain surgeons are back with a resolution urging "Republican solidarity in opposition to Obama's socialist agenda" (link).
