So far, Diho Siam has the best Wor Wonton Soup in Costa Mesa. The broth is amazing! Due to the weather and being under the weather, I’ve had a lot of Soup lately. This is the second day in a row I’ve had the Wor Wonton Soup Bowl from Diho Siam — (949) 645-3259. Too bad I didn’t photograph it yesterday, the Broth was crystal clear like the best Consomme ever seen, and the Shrimp was on top. It would’ve made for a better photo. Consistently both, and all previous bowls, were flavorful, convenient and satisfying. If local and under the weather too, you’ve ... Read Full Story

Cafe R+D is part of the Hillstone Restaurant Group. Its decor reminds me of Houston’s, one of my favorite restaurants in the group. This R+D is in Fashion Island , another is in Dallas and one just opened in Santa Monica. We enjoyed the Newporter Roasted Chicken Salad with Avocado, Bacon & Huntsman Cheese (above) – It’s a fun and tasty deconstructed Salad. Mediterranean Seared Tuna Salad with Sushi Grade Tuna, Avocado, Cucumber & Goat Cheese. It’s a good flavor combination and the Tuna melted in our mouth(s). Cafe R+D Chicken & Spinach Salad with Bloomsdale Spinach, Apples, Cashews & Bacon. During this visit, ... Read Full Story

When KFC promised viewers of Oprah Winfrey free chicken, some fans thought it was too good to be true. And they were right, within hours there were queues outside the stores and KFC began to run out of their newly launched grilled chicken meals.   Some restaurants even had to employ extra staff to manage the crowds which formed after the show on Wednesday. KFC bosses say as a result they are currently unable to honor the freebie vouchers which viewers were able to download from Oprah.com They are asking coupon holders to provide their details and will then mail new vouchers out in ... Bayside Restaurant in Newport Beach recently had its 10th Year Anniversary. To celebrate they offered a 4-Course Menu that included some of their best dishes and customer favorites over the years – Our Friday the 13th (coincidentally) menu included Slow Roasted Pork Belly with Hawaiian Pineapple Carpaccio and Macadamias. Fall Vegetable Bruschetta with Goat Cheese, Pumpkin Seed Essence and a Balsalmic Reduction. Lamb Loin with a Port Wine Black Garlic Sauce , Roasted Tomato, Baby Artichokes and Potato Puree — This dish was amazing. Miso Glazed Chilean Seabass with a Sesame Seaweed Salad and Ponzu Sauce. Mango Sorbet with Ginger Blackberries. A Composition of ... Read Full Story

Several times throughout my life and careers, I have found myself working in the Janaf / Military Circle section of Norfolk. Sadly, there is not an abundance of lunchtime dining options in that area. When Alex and I decided to meet out that way for lunch recently, I remembered on of my former favorites, Uno Chicago Grill. Several years ago when I was working out this way, my friend *Brianna and I started a Tuesday lunch ritual, and Uno was where we usually ended up. It had been well over 2 years since I last dined there. There always used to be a wait, ... Read Full Story

Photo: Is that really tuna? (LFL16 on Flickr) The next time you order tuna at a sushi restaurant - watch out! - it may not be what you think it is. A team of scientists from Columbia University and the American Museum of Natural History conducting a genetic research project found that more than half of tuna ordered from 31 restaurants were "misrepresented" or selling endangered southern bluefin tuna. Some samples were not tuna at all, but...

wired.com: The team of researchers from Columbia University and the American Museum of Natural History ordered tuna from 31 sushi restaurants and then used genetic tests to determine the species of fishes in those dishes. When people are visiting Naples from out of town they all seem to ask for the same thing: They want to go to a restaurant that’s on the water, serves seafood and isn’t too expensive. They are looking for that Florida atmosphere — the Jimmy Buffett one-man band, colorful wall art and fruity drinks — and, of course, they want to enjoy all of the above while sitting outdoors, basking in the sun. That’s how on a windy, but gorgeous, Sunday...

I love risotto, but honestly, I don't make it that often, but this is really good. At the end I simply stir in some seared scallops, shrimp and some greens for a great flavor. This is not my recipe well, not for the most part. But I got the idea from a small New England restaurant and this is my version and. And I admit, it is pretty basic, but it is always great!
