On the last day of OTAs, the Texans agreed to contracts with veteran quarterback Rex Grossman and rookie free safety Troy Nolan.
If Grossman passes his physical, as expected, he’ll sign a one-year contract Friday worth $620,000 — the minimum for a seven-year veteran.

It looks as if the Bears will not have Rex-in-effect come opening day this season as their starting QB. Following a rather lackluster outing Saturday night vs the Seahawks, the Bears today declared Kyle Orton as their opening day starter when they travel to Lucas Oil Field to take on Colts, passing over former starter Rex Grossman.

Frequent End Zone Visitor Appears: Devin Hester has completed his untimely two-day vacation away from the gridiron and arrived at Olivet Nazarene University, reporting to camp earlier this Friday morning with high hopes of receiving a new contract.

Coach Lovie Smith spoke out on the subject today, and said that he still plans on having the playmaker awaiting punts come the 2009 season. “Devin has the chance to score every time.
