Crescent Park Carousel, East Providence, RI

Carousel in Narragansett Bay We took this photo of the Crescent Park Carousel in late October of 2009. It's pretty much all that's left of a famous seaside amusement park where the good people of Providence would come to play around the turn of the century. They could take a trolley from Providence out to East Providence and amuse themselves to their hearts content all summer long. It has been beautifully restored and is looked after by a father and son named Ed. (They only have one name... Read Full Story

'Trashing' Roger Willams

From:  rirepublican.com
Historian Patrick Conley wrote an excellent letter to the editor refuting claims made by Rhode Island College adjunct professor Julianne Jennings' statements about Roger Williams.  Ms. Jennings wants everyone to know "the truth" about Roger Williams, and is pushing for the Department of Transportation to install a plaque which would share her distorted view of history.  Here is the full text of Patrick Conley's letter:   The trashing of Roger Williams by Rhode Island College... Watching the polls results, has been a roller coaster ride. When Barack Obama was projected to win Pennsylvania, I cried. When Senator Obama was projected to win Ohio, my eye widened. I yelled "yyYesss!!" We haven't reached the 270 electoral votes, but we are looking better and better. I have been so anxious. I couldn't bear thinking having George W Bush finally leave the administration of this country and then having John McCain have his bunch continue wrecking my heart. We are looking good...
