Gearing up for the Summer Season

Well, summer is coming and you are wondering what to do.  Before you start surfing the net looking for places to go, consider coming to Newport, Rhode Island.  Newport is for the average traveler who wants to experience the Gilded Ages.  There are plenty of places to visit which are reflective of the lifestyle of people such as the Vanderbilts, the Astors, and the Dukes who made this place famous.  You can tour their houses or stay at one of the ninety inns which are decorated in the Victorian style so that you can experience first hand what it would have been like living at the start and during the Industrial Age in Newport, Rhode Island.

In case the history of this area is not for you, there are plenty of activities to give you the rest and relaxation you may be seeking, including boat rides, walks along Cliff Walk, picnics along the Ocean Drive, JVC Folk and Jazz Festivals, shopping along the harbor, plays and foreign films.  Kite enthusiasts will appreciate the many kite festivals each weekend at Breton Point, which attract people from allover the world with their colorful and imaginative kites in all shapes and sizes.   Sports enthusiasts will enjoy the many aquatic sports such as sailing, surfboarding, kite surfing and paddle boarding.  Others will enjoy bicycle riding, moped riding, and nature walks.

If sports is not your thing, perhaps you would enjoy shopping at the many stores at the Brick Market Place on Thames Street, attending the waterfront festivals, or touring the numerous art galleries strategically located all over Newport.  Perhaps you would like to spend your days sipping cool drinks at one of the local restaurants located on the harbor or catching rays at the local beaches.  Whatever you desire, you will find something to enjoy while in Newport.

Here’s wishing you an enjoyable summer and while you are at it, come and stay at one our air-conditioned inns with Jacuzzi’s, sundeck, and romantic rooms which are in walking distance to most of Newport’s greatest attractions.
