From:  rirepublican.com
It's a sad day in Providence.  One of my favorite buildings, the Arcade, has closed and is awaiting a new tenant.  The owner, Granoff Associates, is planning on renovating the building to suit the needs of it's new tenant.  It will probably be a single tenant and could be either a store or offices.  Either way, it's the end of an era.      You may be reading this and think it's no big deal.  After all, the Arcade is going to reopen eventually, right?  Well, it's supposed to, but I'm not... ALCO Continues to Steam Ahead

From:  rirepublican.com
The City of Providence will provide $8 million in tax increment financing to improve the area around the ALCO project being developed by Struever, Eccles, and Rouse.  The money will be used for several improvements, such as a riverwalk and public parks.  It sounds like a great idea, but of course the Olneyville Neighborhood Association (ONA) is opposed. The Olneyville Neighborhood Association, a group that claims to represent the affected neighborhoods, sees the ALCO project as evidence... Read Full Story

ALCO Is An Important Part of Providence's Future
