Emil Schmit is a long-time member of both the Dubuque Area Writers' Guild and the Southwest Wisconsin Writer's Club. Collections of his poems have been published in a variety of magazines and books throughout the tri-state area. A resident of Southwest Wisconsin his entire life, he sees poetry as the stirring of his soul. Schmit does not have the educational background that one would expect from someone so attuned to the nuances of word and sound. For better than 30 years he was a seedsman for Pride Seed Company. The writing of poetry came about as a means of focusing his mind during his lunch hour. Nature, its power and beauty, are the subjects of many of his poems. Others are nostalgic in nature and tend to romanticize the past. Ultimately, it is home and hearth and his love for the land that drives him to rhyme. " Rural life is being close to nature and land. I think that's pretty important for us. This is my inspiration. It's something to write about; maybe it's a reason to write."

The Daily Mail reported about how the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty was given a happy ending by 'politically correct' BBC .
The Daily Mail Article
The Cbeebies show - Something special (The one with that rather annoying Mr Tumble!) has changed the words to the rhyme to make a happier ending.
Instead of 'Put Humpty together again' the new lyrics claimed all the King's horses and all the King's men 'Made Humpty Happy again'
It makes me angry how things are changing in fears of getting... Read Full Story
For “creative reasons,” the BBC has changed the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty on its children’s channel, reports the Daily Express.
A version used on the CBeebies channel was altered so rather than “couldn’t put Humpty together again” all the King’s horses “made Humpty happy again”.
Reportedly, Little Miss Muffet also was changed “so that she made friends with the spider instead of running away.”
A commenter responds:
I for one can date the exact moment when my childhood was ripped... Read Full Story

Then up she took her little crook Determined for to find them. She found them indeed, but it made her heart bleed, For they left their tails behind them. We all know the nursery rhyme: Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall, and all that jazz. But I never imagined that fictional egg to be quite this creepy.
This advertisement was designed to encourage kiddies to buy Kinder Surprise chocolate in the 1980s. But all it actually did was scare the little ones. Not surprisingly, it was yanked from television before too long.
I’m well past childhood, but I’m still pretty disturbed by this egg man. Never before have I... Read Full Story
