Being the kind of guys who would ask the bartender in a sports bar if he wouldn't mind changing the channel because "I think 'Wheel of Fortune' might be on, and tonight's Caribbean-themed," we are likely not the ones most NFL fans would turn to for commentary or analysis as the preseason gets underway this weekend. And that's for the best, because we aren't about to offer anything of the sort. We can appreciate football's importance to gamblers; after all, without this sport to bet on, there might be a major-sports-less gap in the year that could see attendance at dog tracks overwhelm capacity. ... In the Around the Horns blogpost from today by Bill Coats of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Bill quotes Richie Incognito, the Rams fiery RG on his distaste with Rams fans and his happiness to play in front of mostly loud boisterous Bears fans. I usually support the Rams players when they rip the Rams fans for being quiet, or selling their tickets or for anything else. But, during this AWFUL season, this struck me in a different light. Mr. Incognito, you are wrong. Let’s take this apart one at a time, FJM-style. “It seems like our fans aren’t coming to the game…” The fans ... Read Full Story

By Associated Press Posted November 21, 2008   Email to a Friend     Print This   ST. LOUIS (AP) — Rams guard Richie Incognito welcomes all the Chicago Bears fans that are expected at Sunday’s game in St. Louis. “It seems like our fans aren’t coming to the game, so it’s fun when the other fans come in and start hooting and hollering, you know what I mean,” Incognito said Thursday. “At least, someone in the dome is yelling.” St. Louis is 2-8 overall and 1-3 at home after going 3-13 overall last season with only one home victory, a terrible run that ... Thanks to the recent bye week, St. Louis Rams cornerback Ron Bartell is feeling the best he has all season after a nagging thigh injury hampered his play. "Everything's fine, no complaints," Bartell said Thursday. "I got to get away from football a little bit and get healthy and refocus." He'll need to focus on Sunday when the Rams (1-7) face quarterback Drew Brees and...

No question, the St. Louis Rams deserve to be 1-7. So far, they've proven only that they can beat another really bad team. To match or -- gasp -- top last year's 2-14 record, they know they'll have to step it up. "We've just got to keep plugging away," rookie head coach Steve Spagnuolo said during the bye week.
