The Seattle Mariners first baseman hit the first pitch he saw from Masahide Kobayashihyu to give his team a 2-1 lead with his sixth longball of the season and 100th since signing with the Mariners after the 2004 season. In a bid to move out of third place in the AL East, the enterprising New York Yankees reached an agreement with slugger Richie Sexson. The move is easily justified when you consider that NY will pay Sexson a pro-rated share of the league minimum salary, $390,000, leaving the Mariners to cover the remainder of his $14 million contract. The Seattle Mariners' Richie Sexson wasn't keen on keeping the peace during the Seattle Mariners/Texas Rangers game last night. Seeing that there hasn't been a bench clearing brawl this year, Sexson took matters into his own hands and bulldozed towards Texas pitcher Kason Gabbard when a pitch appeared to graze his head. Yeah, serious masa. Unfortunately, the replays show that Gabbard's pitch to Sexson wasn't menacing at all. In fact, it would have been a strike if it was two feet lower. Putz.
