The Sacramento Kings worked out Jonny Flynn of Syracuse, Jrue Holliday of UCLA and Brandon Jennings, who played in Italy last year. During the post-game interview, Jennings had some less-than-favorable comments about Spain's Ricky Rubio, according to Sam Amick of the Sacramento Bee . "Yeah, I think I'm a better player think he is , I can shoot the ball better than he can, you know the only time I have seen him do something is when he has a homerun pass or something like that. I think the dude is just all hype. I can't even front you know, I'm just going to ... Read Full Story

Spain’s Ricky Rubio, a dazzling point guard with Pete Maravich-like skills and the facial features to match, is considered a lock to be selected in the top 10 of the NBA draft. Several league executives believe the 6-foot-3 Olympian will be a top five pick. The question is, when? It could be this June. Rubio has made it clear that he would like to enter the 2009 draft, according to sources close to the situation. The 18-year-old Rubio is draft-eligible because he will turn 19 before the end of 2009. But it’s not that easy. Rubio has a complicated, multimillion-dollar contract buyout with his ... NBA , NBA Draft / May 29, 2009 / 11:03 am By Liz Toppi Just as High School Hoop pitted Brandon Jennings and John Wall against each other , some of our readers requested an analysis comparing and contrasting Ricky Rubio and “Young Money”. Right off the bat I’d like to say that Jennings has the advantage; he has played in America all his life up until recently, and is now gaining experience playing in Europe. Do not be fooled- I am not saying he is better- I am only suggesting he is better off. Rubio, on the other hand, grew up playing in ... Read Full Story

Jonny Flynn On Wednesday, Ricky Rubio talked about his decision to put the Wolves on his waiting list and stay in Spain: “Going to Minnesota would have just complicated my life a lot. It was a risk,” Rubio told the Associated Press, adding that “the deal with Minnesota had too many obstacles.” ( Stephon Marbury co-signed on that “complicated my life” part, sending his well wishes from Planet Lovetron.) Come 2011, though, the biggest obstacle standing between Rubio coming to the Wolves might not be his contract buyout, but Jonny Flynn . Now that he’s got the starting PG job, Flynn has as good ... Ricky Rubio Now that we know Ricky Rubio won’t be playing in Minnesota this season (or next), questions turn to whether he’ll ever play for the Wolves at all. Soon after it was reported that Rubio is definitely staying in Spain until 2011 , some Minnesota sources said the Knicks were worming their way back into the picture, pitching trades to see if the Wolves would rather get something now than wait for Rubio later. Then some New York sources promptly denied it. (Why wouldn’t they?) If the teams are talking, apparently David Lee, Nate Robinson , and/or a No. 1 pick would be ... Read Full Story
One thing that never gets old in the world of sports are the "I never saw this coming" kind of surprises. Already this season we have witnessed the emergence of 10th overall draft pick Brandon Jennings, the 20-year-old punk who played in Europe after high school while it was suspected his SAT scores weren't up to snuff for NCAA play. This is the kid who said the following about Ricky Rubio weeks before the NBA Draft: "Yeah, I think I'm a...

Ricky Rubio, David Kahn, or Kurt Rambis won’t be able to save the Timberwolves if Al Jefferson isn’t able to fully recover from offseason ACL surgery. Much of the Wolves offseason chatter revolved around the Rubio soap opera and the hiring of Kahn and Rambis as GM and coach, respectively. Almost forgotten was the fact [...]

I know this is a Bulls blog and this has nothing to do with the Bulls.  But all those folks who were on Ricky Rubio's d!@k need to take a serious look at Jennings.  The kid is the real deal.  I don't know why anybody thought he wouldn't be.  His game is tailor made for the NBA so of course he wouldn't look great in Europe.  He had a big-time stretch in the third quarter where he went bananas!!!  And guess who the Bulls play on Tuesday night...
