Anvil! The Story of Anvil, Sacha Gervasi's little doc that could (and then suddenly, unexpectedly couldn't — the Academy left it off their short list), took top honors Friday night at the International Documentary Association Awards in Los Angeles. Anvil's Steve "Lips" Kudlow and Robb Reiner were on hand to accept with Gervasi (see a post-awards interview with Anne Thompson here). It's not an Oscar, but those things are bad for underdog...  

Sacha Gervasi’s “Anvil! Robb Reiner and high school pal Steve "Lips” Kudlow formed Anvil in the late 1970s and by the early 1980s seemed on the cusp of stardom. The band’s 1982 release "Metal on Metal” influenced bands including Anthrax and Metallica . But Anvil never ...  

The two guys I'm talking about are Steve "Lips" Kudlow and Robb Reiner . Kudlow is the front man/singer and his best friend Reiner is the drummer. Their band, Anvil, made what is called "the heaviest metal album ever" in 1982 called Metal On Metal.
