CHENNAI, India (Reuters) - Swedish world number eight Robin Soderling believes he can challenge for a first grand slam success at this month's Australian Open after a breakthrough victory over world number one Roger Federer.  

Rafael Nadal won his first title of 2010, beating Robin Soderling 7-6 (3), 7-5 in the final of the season-opening Capitala exhibition tennis tournament Saturday to end a two-match losing streak against the Swede.  

In the semifinals, Rafael Nadal beat David Ferrer 7-6(3) 6-3 and Robin Soderling beat Roger Federer (for the first time in thirteen matches!) 6-7(6) 7-6(1) 6-2 in an Abu Dhabi exhibition on Saturday. Nadal went on to beat Soderling 7-6(3) 7-5 to clinch the title. It will be interesting to see if the exhibition results influence the ATP tour this season, which kicks off next week in Doha.
