50 Foot Spider Invades Liverpool

It was like a scene from Godzilla Invades England as thousands ran screaming from a giant man-eating spider that had taken up residence in the city. Abandoned children lay crying in the streets, and it's still unclear how many residents were killed.

But a huge spider did begin its stay in Liverpool yesterday, only it's mechanical, and doesn't eat people. Yet. The massive, 50 foot tall robotic spider, currently hanging from the side of a building, has been commissioned for the city's European Capital of Culture year.

Artists from the French theatre company, La Machine, will eventually operate the spider, allowing it to move and explore the city. Hopefully no one in Liverpool suffers from arachnaphobia.
