On Tuesday evening Roger Daltrey of The Who performed together with Dave Stewart and Joss Stone at a charity event for the UCLA Early Childhood Partial Hospitalization Program (ECPHP) for autism (today 1 out of 150 kids has to face it and 1 out of 90 boys). They performed a 90 min set including The Who classics like “Squeezebox”, “Who Are You” and “Baba O’Reilly”. Roger Daltrey isn’t The Who’s wordsmith, but his introduction to Saturday night’s solo concert at the Horseshoe Southern Indiana’s Showroom was spot on: “There’s enough misery out there,” Daltrey said just after walking onstage to a standing ovation from the near-capacity crowd. “Let’s have some fun.” And for the next 1:45, Daltrey, his surprisingly tight band and the mostly middle-age audience did just that during an 18-song set that mixed Who classics and rarities with releases from Daltrey’s solo career and some of the 65-year-old’s favorites by the likes of Johnny Cash and Mose Allison. The positive reviews the tour has been receiving ( ... Read Full Story

The 1965 hit song includes the line "I hope I die before I get old". "At 64, I now want to take on aging and mortality, using the powerfully angry context of rock'n'roll." Floss will be designed for outdoor performance and arenas and Townshend expects it to be ready for a concert premiere in 2011, probably in New York. ... Read Full Story
DETROIT (Billboard) - With the Who inactive for the moment, Roger Daltrey is gearing up to launch his first solo tour of North America since 1985. The Use It Or Lose It theater trek -- a nod to the 65-year-old singer's vocal cords -- kicks off October 10 in Vancouver, B.C., and runs through November 30 in Clearwater, Fla. Daltrey will dust off material from his nine solo albums, some covers (he's previously preformed songs by Queen, Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen) and, of course, a generous selection of Who favorites. "I feel so passionate about (Who guitarist/songwriter Pete) Townshend's music, what he wrote ... Read Full Story
