Angel on the Ponte Sant’Angelo in Rome, Italy

By kenk514 on  From kenkaminesky.com
I had rather lousy weather in Rome during my stay there but I made the most of it by going to shoot interiors when it was raining. I also got up really early such as for this photo of the beautiful angel statue on the Ponte Sant’Angelo that I took on my last morning in Rome. It seemed that one minute I had blue sky and then out of nowhere dark grey clouds would fill the sky and I’d be stuck in a downpour. No matter what the weather was like though everywhere I’d go in Rome I’d end up seeing...Read Full Story

By kenk514 on  From kenkaminesky.com
The Trevi Fountain or Fontana di Trevi is the largest and most famous baroque fountain in Rome. The fountain gets it’s name from the fact that it sits at the junction of three roads or in Italian “tre vie”. Traditionally Romans built rather elaborate fountains at the terminal point of their aqueducts. In this case the Trevi Fountain marks the end of the Acqua Vergine as well as the Acqua Virgo which were originally built in 19 BC by Marcus Agrippa during the reign of Caesar Augustus. Rome enjoys the temperate climate which characterises the Mediterranean coasts of Italy, although the weather has been getting warmer in recent decades. It is at its most comfortable from April through June, and from mid-September to October; in particular, the Roman "ottobrata" (roughly translated as "October period") is famously known for its sunny days and pleasant temperatures. By August, the temperature during the heat of the day often exceeds 35° C (95° F); traditionally, many businesses would close during August, and Romans would abandon the city for holiday resorts, but this trend is weakening, and the city is increasingly remaining fully functional during the whole summer, in response to growing tourism as well as change in the population's work habits. The average high temperature in December is about 13° C (55° F)
