You remember the story of Romeo and Juliet, right? If not, let me refresh your memory...

Back when it was first written, it was an "action flick". Maybe even one of the very first action flicks. Of course, in Shakespeare's day (he wrote Romeo and Juliet), there were no movies. Oh there were theaters all right, but no movies.

And going to the theater was big-time entertainment. And big-time entertainment needs big-time stories with bigger than life characters. Enter Romeo and Juliet...

Romeo and Juliet were in love, but they just couldn't get it together. They weren't meant to be, or at least that's how Juliet's parents felt about the whole thing.

Classic story of Romeo and Juliet, set in a modern-day city of Verona Beach. The Montagues and Capulets are two feuding families, whose children meet and fall in love. They have to hide their love from the world because they know that their parents will not allow them to be together. There are obstacles on the way, like Juliet's cousin, Tybalt, and Romeo's friend Mercutio, and many fights. But although it is set in modern times, it is still the same timeless story of the "star crossed lovers". Read Full Story

Have been catching up (several times and loudly ) with this excellent Prom , specifically its first part, Prokofiev's ballet Romeo and Juliet - which is by far my favourite ballet music and would be very near the top, if I had such a list (but I don't, because I shun favourites lists), of my all-time favourite music of any kind. I discovered part of it when I was 10 and it made the profoundest impression on me. The grand ball theme, "Montagues and Capulets" (see clip below), was used as the signature tune to a serialised adaptation of Alexandre Dumas' The Black Tulip ... Read Full Story

Director Baz Luhrmann knew what he was doing when he cast Claire Danes and Leonardo DiCaprio in the title roles of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The two young actors have the power to captivate their audience and together, they are unsurpassable. From the famous opening line of "Two Households both alike in dignity.." to the tragic end, the viewer is whisked away into the depths of the surrealistic world of Verona Beach. Don't expect to see British people prancing around in tights when you rent this one. Luhrmann creates a world where gun toting teens sport Hawaiian shirts and beach front brawls are ... After a recent sexy photo shoot Shahid and Priyanka are ready to star together in Vishal Bharadwaaj’s happier version of Shakespear tragedy Romeo Juliet. Bharadwaj las two movies Maqbool and Omkara were inspired from Shakespear’s Macbeth and Hamlet and he makes it clear that his next flick will not be a transformed version of Romeo and Juliet. “People would love to see me complete my Shakespearean trilogy after Macbeth (Maqbool) and Hamlet (Omkara). But I’m not doing Romeo & Juliet,” quoted Vishal. Shahid has already signed on the dotted line, meanwhile the presence of Priyanka is yet to be confirmed, as the former Miss ... Read Full Story
