Iggy Pop will perform songs by his band The Stooges after reconciling with the group’s guitarist. Pop, 62, and James Williamson will join forces on tracks they penned in the early 1970s. The singer said: “James Williamson is really hot to trot and there’s a lot of old stuff that The Stooges failed to record. With the Stooges set to return to the stage in 2010, Iggy Pop talked to the BBC about the legendary band’s latest comeback, which will reunite them with guitarist James Williamson for the first time in almost three decades. Stooges guitarist Ron Asheton passed away in his native Michigan after suffering a heart attack. F amily, friends, fans and fellow musicians of Ron Asheton are mourning for his death. Ron Asheton was found dead early Tuesday at his home in Ann Arbor. The death remains under investigation, though foul play is not suspected, said Ann Arbor Police Sgt. Brad Hill. I'm going need some extra attention from those who didn't eat their Wheaties this morning, because this one's a real mind-fucker.  While The Stooges are officially kaput due to the tragic passing of founding guitarist Ron Asheton , Iggy Pop and James Williamson (guitar on Raw Power ) recently talked of reuniting  the Raw Power line-up of "Iggy and The Stooges." Earlier today, Stooges guitarist Ron Asheton was found dead in his Ann Arbor, Michigan home from what investigators unofficially say might have been a heart attack some days ago. According to Rolling Stone Magazine , police broke into Asheton’s place after his personal assistant reported not having heard from him for several days. Asheton was 60. Iggy Pop spoke with The BBC about the The Stooges plans to reunite for a tour in 2010 and how the band will continue without guitarist Ron Asheton. Asheton passed away in January 2009. Pop explained: We're all very sorry about Ron. His spirit within the group remains with the rest of us and he is still a presence within the group without being on the physical plain.
