Defending champion Ronnie O'Sullivan crashed out of the world snooker championships here on Saturday, losing his second round match against Mark Allen 13-11. Ronnie O’Sullivan has been magnificently sent packing out of this years Betfred World Snooker Championships. Mark Allen, the world number 16, is the man that has sent Ronnie home early and what a victory it was.
A match of the highest quality where the pressure on Allen never really seemed to phase the Northern Ireland star, he wound up a 13-11 winner.

Ronnie O’Sullivan battled back from 2-0 down against Chinese sensation Liang Wenbo. Wenbo, who O’Sullivan beat in the 1/4 final of the 2008 World Championships, has already become a cult hero amongst snooker fans with his very attacking do-or-die attitude. To date I am yet to see him refuse a pot!

The biggest surprise of the first ranking event of the season is Dave Harold. The 42 year old Staffordshire based cueman has always been a talented player and has on a couple of occasions broken into Snooker’s elite 16. Ronnie O’Sullivan stepped into the third round of the Northern Ireland Trophy but only just! He trailed Ken Doherty (who performed well in front of a partizan Irish crowd) 4-2 in the best of 9 match but managed to win the remaining three frames.
The win now sets up a third round tie against World semi-finalist Joe Perry tonight at 19:30.
