Rosario's Mom Used to Lick Her Armpits as Punishment

Rosario Dawson has always struck me as a really down-to-earth, grounded young woman. There's something very elegant and well-mannered about her...and her mom's totally inelegant, unorthodox means of punishment probably had something to do with it.
In a candid interview with Lynn Hirschberg of the New York Times, Dawson admitted that her mom, who had Rosario when she was 16, used to lick her as punishment. She said:
If I was a little uppity or if she wanted to get my attention, she'd lick the side of my face or under my armpit. My mom's a six-foot-tall amazon and she'd say, 'You came out of my vagina and I own every part of you,' and she'd lick me like I was her wee pup and she was a lioness. It was humiliating and really intense. Very primal. It's not spanking, but it definitely works.
I guess there's nothing like being licked in the armpit to build character.
