A Republican official says former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (joo-lee-AH'-nee) is expected to endorse ex-GOP congressman Rick Lazio (LAH'-zee-oh) for New York governor. The decision is confirmed by a Republican familiar with Giuliani's plan who spoke on the condition of anonymity. The official isn't authorized to speak about the endorsement. Giuliani is known as America's mayor for his leadership after the Sept. 11 attacks. His endorsement is scheduled for Tuesday. The Roman Catholic church says it has exonerated a Long Island priest of allegations that he molested a teenager. Msgr. Alan Placa is a close friend of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and went to work at his consulting business after the accusations were lodged against him in 2002. The Diocese of Rockville Centre said in a statement Friday that a panel in Rome had concluded Placa was innocent. The church says Placa may resume his ministry.
