An opening for Rudy Giuliani?

The London Guardian is reporting that "It's a go" for Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State in the Obama Administration. It's now up on HotAir.com.

A commenter posts that Governor David Patterson will have to appoint a replacement for the two years, with an election for the seat to be held 2010. Ironically, this sets up two Senate races for New York in 2010, as the Schumer seat is also up.

Could this be an opening for Giuliani? The fiscally conservative/socially tolerant former Mayor appears to be an early favorite. Other possible mentions include former Governor George Pataki, and even Long Island's outspoken Congressman Peter King. Both have had somewhat friendly relations with libertarians. Pataki was a quasi-supporter of drug legalization during his term. King has appeared on many libertarian radio talk shows.
