A senior foreign policy adviser to the Republican frontrunner Rudy Giuliani has urged that Iran be bombed using cruise missiles and "bunker busters" to set back Teheran’s nuclear programme by at least five years. "None of the alternatives to military action - negotiations, sanctions, provoking an internal insurrection - can possibly work," said Mr. Podhoretz. "They’re all ways of evading the terrible choice we have to make which is to either let them get the bomb or to bomb them." "People... Read Full Story
The following statement by Republican Presidential Candidate Rudy Giuliani should make every Republican NOT vote for him. Unless of course you’re an idiot! The former New York mayor says the government shouldn't be shy about eavesdropping on citizens . Bush and his buddy Dick have so far reduced the Constitution to a floor matt; Rudy would use it for an even worse use. What part of ‘illegal’ don’t Bush and Giuliani understand about unwarranted eavesdropping on citizens? Regardless of what... Read Full Story
Rudy Giuliani doggedly insisted on Tim Russert’s program that he did nothing wrong in having police guard his mistress, Judith Nathan, while they were having an affair. He claimed assigning a chauffeur to drive her around was based upon “threat assessments made by the New York Police Department.” Unfortunately, this explanation does not square with a New York Daily News story on Friday, that was based on information from multiple witnesses, and a law enforcement source, that she was being... You can almost guarantee that Rudy Giuliani never had any idea that his appointee as police chief while mayor of New York City would haunt him for the rest of his life, but that seems to be the case with Bernard Kerik. Now that Kerik has been indicted, you might expect a bit of a dip in Rudy's poll numbers. I think it will be hard for some right wing conservatives to stand behind a man like Giuliani who once stood with a man like Kerik. I guess we'll see soon enough.

I previously wrote that Rudy would help Northeastern Republicans down ballot if he was the nominee next fall. And NYS GOP Chairman Joseph Mondello echoes that sentiment for New York Republicans especially. From today's D&C : State GOP Chairman Joseph Mondello said the party's fate may be tied to whether former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani wins the Republican presidential nod. With Giuliani, New York could be in play in the presidential race and spur the national GOP to pump cash into... Read Full Story

Speaking at the NRA yesterday, Rudy Giuliani said that the MoveOn ad smearing General Petraeus "passed a line that we should not allow American political organizations to pass": Whether you agree with the war in Iraq or you don't; whether you agree with the surge or you don't; Democrats even came back from Iraq and said that he's having more success than anybody had thought. So to attack the man's integrity, and honesty, and decency, is in my view indecent. It passed a line that we should... Read Full Story
