HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Golden Girls star Rue McClanahan is recovering in a New York City hospital after undergoing heart bypass surgery on Tuesday. The procedure came about after a visit to the hospital turned up an irregular heartbeat, McClanahan's manager, Barbara Lawrence, told Reuters. Goldens Girls star Rue McClanahan has undergone surgery in New York. The actress went to hospital for a routine physical exam, as she had been experiencing shortness of breath, but her doctor found that she had a heart problem that required bypass surgery.
