Ryan Brathwaite , a 21-year-old Olympic hurdler from Barbados, won the 110-meter hurdles at the World Championships today. It was the first medal ever to be won for Barbados at the World Championships. Braithwaite won the 110-meter hurdles by 0.01 second (AP) Braithwaite hit the first hurdle, but managed to finish the race in 13.14 seconds in a photo finish. Terrence Trammell, an American, placed second with 13.15 seconds. Barthwaite made it as far as the semi-finals in the Olympics last year. The AP reported that he said, "I am very happy.
