Ryan Hansen, Wisconsin Record Holder in the 500 Freestyle at 4:38.98

Ryan Hansen a senior at Arrowhead High School in Hartland, Wisconsin set the new WIAA men's 500 freestyle swimming record on Frebruary 21st, 2009. His time of 4:28.98 was the result of an exciting race between Michael Drives of Madison Memorial and the Arrowhead swimmer that will be attending the University of Utah in the fall. Both gentlemen provided a race that was exciting all the way to the end where Ryan touched out Michael by 1 second. In a heat with swimmers fully clothed in the latest hi-tech swim suits, Ryan Hansen stood out as the only one that wore a more traditional suit with bare chest. Ryan was quoted as saying, " If I was going to break a record I wanted to do it on fair terms that the swimmers prior to me had to swim under".
