Ryan O'Neal Blocks His Son From Attending Farrah's Funeral

Iconic actress Farrah Fawcett passed away last week after a prolonged battle with anal cancer. Her 24-year-old son with Ryan O'Neal, Redmond, was permitted to leave jail for the funeral (he's currently serving time for a drug conviction), but two of Ryan's other children were not allowed to attend: Tatum and Griffin O'Neal.

Griffin O'Neal, 44, Ryan's son from his marriage to actress Joanna Cook Moore, attempted to pay his respects to his father's longtime partner this week. He, his wife and toddler son showed up at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels only to be turned away from the service: Dad's orders.

When Inside Edition asked Ryan why he'd barred his son from the service, Ryan said, "because he's a bad guy."

In 2007, Ryan O'Neal was charged with negligent discharge of a weapon and assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly fired a gun at his son in the presence of Griffin's pregnant fianceé. O'Neal later claimed that his son had attacked his fianceé with a fireplace poker and he was merely acting in self-defense.

Griffin O'Neal appeared dismayed at having been turned away from Fawcett's funeral, telling Inside Edition, "I just wanted to say goodbye to someone that I knew and loved for 33 years."
