Aliens is a classic without question. It’s quick, simple, straight to the point, and best of all, it stands the test of time.   It’s one of those rare movies that you find yourself hard-pressed to find fault with. It has a solid storyline with good characters set in a believable world. You start with a lone survivor, Ripley, who is asked to jump back into the fray, so to speak, with a band of heavily equipped, though ill-informed and overconfident marines with an android and a couple of ships loaded to the gills with missiles. By the end of the movie, you’re ... Read Full Story

I caught this flick on cable one night a couple of years ago while flipping through the channels and it quickly became one of my favorite movies. What caught my attention was the heart of the story, for it is one that, regardless of all the oddities, camera angles, and unlikely hood of such events actually happening, it is a story of love and speaks to what we are all trying to find.                 On a cold, snowy day, Billy Brown(Vincent Gallo) is released from prison and sets out to visit is parents. He is a shattered ... Read Full Story

Black Magic M66 is yet another 80’s Anime that caught my eye in the 90’s.   Ok, you have two experimental robots/androids that, while being transported, are accidently activated when the transport carrier crashes. The conflict/danger of the story lays in the fact that the androids are primed and ready for combat and, for some idiotic reason, one of the creators nieces or daughters, I forget which, has been set as their target.   The military is brought in to find out what happened and to track down and capture the androids before they complete their mission. Along the way, a rambunctious news ... Read Full Story

Ok, I know that I'm pretty late on this one but, I picked up the DVD at Target the other day, where I’ve always seen it for sale but always passed it by for one reason or another. I really didn’t care that John Woo had anything to do with its production, nothing against Mr. Woo but, I just hoped that the film would still be good weather he had anything to do with it or not. The last time I saw anything of Appleseed was the old VHS tape I had back in the day of the Anime made in 1988 and it ... Read Full Story

I am in now way an art critic, but I know what I like, and I like Seonna Hong's work.   I stumbled across her website a couple months back when I was looking for artist and illustrator websites. When I sampled her site, I had no choice but to put a link under my Glyphs section.   These paintings are but a sampling of her work and there are many more viewable galleries of her art on her site that you can go through. The site itself is done very well and also has bio, education, work history, and contact ... Read Full Story
