How To Easily Spot DoFollow Blogs

"Backlinks Week" is in full overdrive on Source Blogger! Due to the sudden, unexpected increase in comments, emails, and new subscribers, we've decided to extend "Backlinks Week" for a few more days.

We knew when you got tired of reading the same generic, recycled article on 'linking strategies' floating around, from blog to blog, by the other "experts," you'd be back. We're happy to see you again. Certain key topics essential for your growth and development as a blogger/webmaster/site owner require more than the vague, non-descript, 140-150 word blog post. Which is why you should consider becoming a member of the Source Blogger community. Source Blogger is "best of class," setting the tone for other blogs in it's niche/category. It's time you got more out of a blog.

Let's continue with more strategies to improve your link building stratgies for your blog, shall we?

A brief history on the creation of "NoFollow"

The concept for the specification of the attribute value was designed by Google’s head of webspam team Matt Cutts and Jason Shellen from Blogger.com in 2005.

The HTML attribute was originally designed to stop comment spam on blogs. Blog readers and bloggers were well aware of the immense problem. Just like any other type of spam affects its community, comment spam affected the entire blogging community, so in early 2005 Google’s Matt Cutts and Blogger’s Jason Shellen designed the attribute to address the problem and the attribute was born.

It helps overwhelmed webmasters disallow spammers from gaining any kind of advantage by inserting an unwanted link on a popular page.

Aftermath

While this was a noble cause to target spammers, bloggers across the globe were sent reeling.

There was a great concern over the level of future participation of commentators on our blogs. Allowing the commentator to link back to his/her blog was an equitable trade for a valuable comment.

In addition, the quest was on to locate blogs that were "DoFollow."

How to Spot DoFollow Blogs

As was mentioned in How Can I Build Backlinks When So Many Blogs Are NoFollow?, your "homework" was to start analyzing some of the blogs you had left comments for the "'NoFollow" attribute.

If you use Firefox, a quick way to find DoFollow links is to spot the NoFollow ones! A free plugin called SearchStatus does just that: it will highlight all "NoFollow" links on a page.

Everything not highlighted is DoFollow. It's a quick and easy way to do a background check on your backlinking resources to see if they've retained DoFollow status!

What is CommentLuv?

CommentLuv is a Wordpress plugin that will search your blog's feed when you post a comment on a blog with it installed. It then places a link to your most previous post in the comment you wrote, for some extra link juice to an internal link on your blog. You can use our dofollow blogs search engine to find blogs using CommentLuv.

What is Top Commenter?

Also known as Top Commentators, this Wordpress plugin allows the people who comment the most on a blog within a certain time frame (usually a month), a sitewide link, usually in their sidebar. This is great not only for great backlinks on every page of a dofollow blog, but also a great, free advertising opportunity.

Let's remove the 'NoFollow" Attribute from your Blogger Template!

Here are the steps you need to take if you want to remove the NoFollow attribute on your Blogger blog.

"DoFollow" Resources

The following were just a few resources that we discovered from just a few minutes of online investigation. We encourage you to help our readers discover more lists and directories.

Dofollow Diver is a search engine which return you lists of results based on your keywords you enter, but it will return you only dofollow blogs instead of nofollow+dofollow blogs (like you see from a basic search engine).

D-List - Court's Internet Marketing School contains a list of 200 'DoFollow" blogs.
