Comedy is all about timing. Unfortunately, Brüno 's stank.
Days after Michael Jackson 's June 25 death —just two weeks before Sacha Baron Cohen 's raunchfest was set to premiere—filmmakers scrambled to remove a scene that could have been deemed distasteful, even by their standards. The flamboyant Austrian fashion plate lured La Toya Jackson to a Hollywood home, sat her on a Mexican laborer, made her eat sushi off the nude body of another, Shanghai'd her BlackBerry and read... British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen is continuing his Hollywood hot streak as he signs up to star in and produce two high-profile new films.
The actor, who had back-to-back hits with Borat and Bruno, has now set up his own production house and already created a bidding war with its first project.
The unnamed picture, written by the same team as his last two and set to star Cohen, landed his outfit Four by Two Films a seven-figure dollar deal after Columbia Pictures beat two other studios... Read Full Story
Brüno was damn funny in small doses, but as an entire movie, it kind of lost its way. But when the film comes out on DVD November 17th, it will have a few more small doses, like this deleted scene with Pete Rose.
If you saw the film, you know that Sacha Baron Cohen tried the same stunt with Paula Abdul, using "migrant workers" as makeshift furniture for an interview. I didn't think it would be funny the second time through, but I was kind of wrong about that. I don't love the clip, but it... Read Full Story

Bruno CAM XViD Borat trickster Sacha Baron Cohen returns to the big screen to offer yet another stinging dose of sociopolitical satire in this comedy that finds him assuming the persona of gay fashionmonger Bruno, the self-proclaimed “voice of Austrian youth TV.†Originally conceived as part of Cohen’s cult television series Da Ali G Show, the character of Bruno offered a cleverly costumed Cohen the opportunity to highlight the absurdities of the fashion industry by interviewing... Malaysia has banned U.S. box office hit "Bruno" by Sacha Baron Cohen because it highlights gay life and has gay sex scenes, an official said Tuesday. "Bruno" — following Baron Cohen's hit "Borat" — is centered around the adventures of a flamboyant gay fashion journalist from Austria. An official from Malaysia's Film Censorship Board said the movie was considered unacceptable because of its story line, offensive language, jokes and racy nature. She declined to be named, citing protocol. "It's... Read Full Story

Several plaintiffs, who all had their cases against Sacha Baron Cohen and Borat producers thrown out in recent years, have just banded together to file a massive appeal.
The angry unwitting cast members, which included Borat’s driving teacher Michael Psenicska, and etiquette coaches Kathie Martin and Cindy Streit, had their appeals heard by a three-judge panel in New York yesterday.
The plaintiffs all claimed that the release forms... Read Full Story
