This zine is dedicated to the initiative of providing safe clean drinkable water to all members of our global society. It will focus on campaigns by any organizations looking to achieve this goal in developing countries, along with stories relating to problems associated with unsafe drinking water.
The lack of access to safe drinking water is the main cause to many diseases, hunger, and poverty in many parts of the world. In a world where technology is advancing at an alarming rate, we cannot afford to let this situation continue. It is our responsibility as citizens of this ever-shrinking world to act, to put an end to this simple problem.
TemasEtUnam One of my first posts here on The Temas Blog concerned the 2006 World Health Organization ( WHO ) progress report on reaching the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) regarding drinking water and sanitation. So it’s probably fitting as I approach the second anniversary of the The Temas Blog to be discussing the latest update just released by the Joint Monitoring Programme ( JMP ) run by both WHO and the United Nations Children’s Fund ( UNICEF ).
I’ll discuss this report in two... Read Full Story
This year’s World Water Week begins on March 22 and ends on March 28. During this week, the Tap Project will once again raise vital donations and awareness for UNICEF’s water and sanitation programs. The Tap Project was born in New York City in 2007 based on a simple concept: restaurants would ask their patrons to donate $1 or more for the tap water they usually enjoy for free , and all funds raised would support UNICEF’s efforts to bring clean and accessible water to millions of children... An interview with Dr. Batmanghelidj A NaturalNews.com Special Report by Mike Adams INTRODUCTION Physicians rarely promote the curative properties of H2O, but Dr. Batmanghelidj, M.D. has studied water's effect on the human body and has found it to be one of the best pain relievers and preventative therapies in existence. I was one of the last people to interview the late Dr. Batmanghelidj, and I listened in awe as he shared his research and stories about "The Healing Power of Water... Read Full Story
Which type of timer should you use on a water softener? After 10 years working on water softeners, I have seen the least problems with mechanical timers. You still need to weigh the pros and cons of each. Electronic timers seem to be much more efficient than mechanical timers since so many bells and whistles are in the software to eek as much soft water out of each pound of salt. If there is a lot of iron in your water (over 1 part per million), you may want to go with a standard non-metering... Read Full Story

I couldn’t believe this when I read it. Chloramine damages mucous membranes. Lung damage when exposed to it is similar to that seen in regular smokers. After reading the previous statements chloramine removal should be top of your list for good health choices. To remove chloramines just makes good health sense. You may or may not know in some cities chloramine is used as a disinfectant in their water systems instead of chlorine. This can be dangerous to your health. A way to... Read Full Story
The Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) originally passed in 1984 by United States Congress was established to regulate the drinking water of this nation. Amendments were made in 1986 and 1996 to further protect this favorite beverage and its sources - lakes, reservoirs, ground water wells, rivers, streams, and springs. Under the SDWA the Environmental Protection Agency has the authority to set safe standards to protect us against unsafe water. The EPA works together with states and utility... Read Full Story
You probably turn it on more often every day than the TV, the radio and your cell phone without ever worrying whether what comes out is dangerous to you or your family. "It" is a faucet, and, with most people's attention focused on the soaring price of gasoline these days, it's easy to overlook the importance of water to everyone's life and the economy. That's one of the reasons the American Water Works Association launched the annual National Drinking Water Week campaign about 30 years ago... Read Full Story
I found an interesting website today at www.infrastructurereportcard.org/ There are two reasons to worry about water quality. The first is municipal water. The second is well water. On the municipal water side, I would like to point out something that is not really related to drinking water. It is called the Tapan Zee bridge over the Hudson River, and to me it is one of the most frightening structures in the United States. 136,000 cars cross this bridge every day, and it doesn't take a close... The below is an article from Water Technology Magazine. This is a colossal waste of water and what is not even mentioned is the amount of (air and water polluting) fertilizers and insecticides that will be used to grow the biofuel crops. "ST. PAUL , MN —Scientists from the University of Minnesota are reporting that production of bioethanol — often regarded as a clean-burning energy source of the future — may consume up to three times more water than previously thought. “ Water Embodied in...
