Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site

CORNISH – What would Augustus Saint-Gaudens have wanted? The question echoes at the center of a controversy over a tree-cutting project at Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site here – work that was put on hold after neighbors raised their voices in protest last week. National Park Service officials began cutting down 100-foot pines along the westerly edge of the grounds Nov. 30.
