Samantha Geimer (born Samantha Gailey) was the 13-year old at the center of the Roman Polanski rape case in 1977. A grand jury charged Polanski with rape by use of drugs, perversion, sodomy, lewd and lascivious act upon a child under fourteen, and furnishing a controlled substance to a minor, which led to Polanski's guilty plea to the charge of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. There's been another unusual turn in the life of Roman Polanski . As you know, the Oscar-winning director was taken into custody while in Switzerland a few weeks back, stemming from his statuatory rape charge from the 1970s. He fled the US prior to sentencing and hasn't been back since. And while extradition is still a distinct possibility, Polanski paid $4.5 million in bail and moved into house arrest in a Swiss chalet. Upon arriving in Switzerland for the Zurich Film Festival , at which he was set to accept the Lifetime Achievement Award, director Roman Polanski was taken into custody by Swiss authorities. The charge is for a U.S. warrant for arrest for Polanski's 1978 statutory rape conviction.

Roman Polanski is adding the final flourishes to his latest film from his Swiss prison cell, his friend has revealed.
The Ghost is based on Robert Harris’s novel which caused a stir for featuring a character resembling former Prime Minister Tony Blair, a once-popular leader brought down by his allegiance to the US in the war on terror.
