Samantha Ronson

Samantha Ronson is a professional DJ and musician. In 2000 she spun live for the MTV New Year's Eve 2001 show. She also was the first rock act signed to Roc-A-Fella Records, where she released four songs under the label and recorded her first album. Although the album was never officially released, a track was featured in the movie Mean Girls. Ronson is a co-owner of the NYC nightclub The Plumm, and is also known for her connections to such high-profile celebrities as Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie and Joel and Benji Madden.

Lindsay Says She Didn't Know Sam Had Dumped Her

Rare is a celebrity's personal life such entertainment news fodder that he or she can appear on a talk show to discuss a breakup. Lindsay Lohan taped an episode of Ellen in which she discusses her estrangement from Samantha Ronson; she says she had no idea she and her girlfriend of about a year had broken up.
I had no idea what was going on. I just hadn't seen her in like a week. She, like, disappeared. When you watch the clip below, one thing is clear: Lohan is trying to laugh off the situation, and is trying to see the breakup as an opportunity to focus on her (admittedly stagnant) career. Maybe it's just the tracking on the video, but it doesn't appear that anyone else is laughing with her.

Ellen referred to a very public breakup of her own (presumably with Anne Heche in 2000) while asking Lindsay what she'll do to recover. Lindsay said:
I feel like I want to get my career back in shape. There are some shows I'm producing that I'm really excited about. I'm doing a movie in October. So it's been nice to just kind of...You know when people are together so much it gets really difficult, and you forget who you are because you're more concerned about being with the other person.

I think [the breakup has] been really good for me. I thought it would be so much harder and it hasn't been...I’ve had great people surrounding me and I’ve just been working every single day.
Lindsay did confess that she still loves Sam, and seems to believe that maybe things can work out someday, "we'll see what happens. Maybe like when we're both fully in the right place."
