13 Years Later, 'The Incredibles 2' Is Giving Elastigirl Her Time in the Spotlight
A sequel to one of Disney's best creations is finally happening, and the Parr family matriarch will be front and center.
The Incredibles is one of Disney's most underrated films, which is why we're thrilled to offer an update on its much-deserved sequel. The first film debuted in 2004, so thanks to advanced tech, fans can expect major changes in animation quality. According to a report from MTV, however, we're also in for a little twist in family dynamics.
Upcoming Incredibles 2 will feature Parr matriarch Elastigirl (Helen) as she dashes from crime scene to sky rise fire, saving innocents and apprehending criminals. Meanwhile, husband Mr. Incredible (Bob) has reportedly taken to a quieter life at home, raising kids Violet and Dash and keeping an eye on baby Jack-Jack.
As it happens, though, babysitting a kid like Jack-Jack is far from a sleepy task.
Just ask Kari.
At Disney's D23 Expo, the studio reportedly revealed the first footage from the 2018 film, which picks up right around where we left off. In the clip, Bob is seen at home with Jack-Jack, who gets into a scramble with a raccoon he perceives as a bad guy. It doesn't take long before Bob realizes Jack-Jack has not one, but many powers, as the toddler attempts to take down the big bad weasel.
All this battling does some damage to the Parrs' new home, which sounds pretty badass, but Bob is so thrilled to discover Jack-Jack is the superest of super that he barely takes notice.
MTV also shares that the sequel will feature an all new villain.
Voice actors Holly Hunter (Elastigirl), Craig T. Nelson (Mr. Incredible), Sarah Vowell (Violet Parr), and Samuel L. Jackson (Frozone) will return for the second iteration, while the voice behind Parr son, Dash, will be played by newcomer Huck Milner.
The Incredibles 2 is slated to enter theaters June 15, 2018.
