san clemente island accident Los Angeles- A midair collision occurred between a US Marine Corps Bell AH-1 Cobra and a US Coast Guard helicopter on Thursday night about 24 km east of San Clemente Island, as reported by CNN. 9 persons are feared dead in this accident.       The U.S. Coast Guard and Navy were searching for as many as nine people off the Southern California coast following a collision between a Coast Guard plane and a Marine Corps helicopter, officials said. A pilot reported seeing a fireball in the vicinity of the suspected crash site, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said. The crash was reported at 7:10 p.m., about 15 miles east off San Clemente Island, Coast Guard spokeswoman Petty Officer Allyson Conroy said. A transport plane belonging to the Coast Guard with seven people, and a Camp Pendleton helicopter with two people collided on 29th October evening, Thursday, which has let to an intense search in the ocean. A small civilian aircraft crashed Friday off the Southern California coast. According to the San Diego Union Tribune , officials had not been able to identify the aircraft or anyone on board as of last night. The U.S Coast Guard located floating debris and an oil slick in the ocean yesterday and was searching for survivors after the plane went down 30 miles off Oceanside.
