Gavin Newsom likes to present himself as a cutting-edge kind of guy, particularly when it comes to high-tech gadgetry and whatever social media fad is the flavor of the month. He even delivered his last State of the City address exclusively via YouTube, and he routinely jets around with the Google guys on their private jet. Gavin Newsom checks out the latest in digitial camera technology at a recent mayoral event. Unfortunately, like pretty much everything Gavin Newsom does, his high-tech posturing is all puffery, devoid of any meaningful substance, nothing more than a show for anybody who might be watching him. The fact ... Read Full Story

The latest dispatch from the Nanny State is the proposed ban on the sale of cigarettes , and all other tobacco products, in San Francisco drug stores . It's enough to make me want to take up the filthy habit---except the last time tobacco touched my lips, I ended up sleeping with a man, and became a mom. I love San Francisco . It was home during my fag hag phase. Some of my best friends still live in the city. There is the bay, the bridge, the fog—and the fact that no one looks twice when a guy in a batman suit jumps ... Andy Warhol Live at the DeYoung. I Saw It. Hey what’s up. I got back last night from my rad trip to San Francisco , where I had the time of my life nonstop for five days, taking only short breaks in the extreme fun-having for tiny bouts of sleeping. San Francisco is so awesome I can hardly even remain alive now that I am back in NYC. Some of you (having read my most recent post) may recall that I journeyed to the west coast last Thursday to attend the Bartmizvah Palooza of Griffin Sloves . Griffin is the adorable and genius son ... Read Full Story

Well, it's taken some time for me to get over the first-base poll. Not that Will Clark is a poor choice. On the contrary. It just seems Willie McCovey is the logical choice, being as the website is named after him. That's all I have to say on the matter. Long live The Thrill. Results of the first-base voting: Will Clark 45%, Willie McCovey 32%, J.T. Snow 20%. This is the poll for the all-time favorite San Francisco Giants closer. To avoid...

State inspectors say an oil spill that sent hundreds of gallons of bunker oil into San Francisco Bay was caused by a fuel tank that overflowed during a morning refueling stop. In investigating the Oct. 30 spill from the Dubai Star, officials with the California Office of Spill Prevention also determined that crew members didn't notice the tank was overflowing until the oil had already leaked into the bay.
