A community portal about San Marino with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: The Most Serene Republic of San Marino is the third smallest nation in Europe. Located in southern Europe, it is an enclave surrounded by Italy, and is one of the European microstates. San Marino is the oldest constitutional republic in the world still in existence today. It was founded in A.D. 301 by Marinus of Rab, a Christian stonemason fleeing the religious persecution of Roman Emperor Diocletian.

Will Kilroy_60 become the next United States Ambassador To (The) Most Serene Republic Of San Marino?

I've sent letters, along with a Resume of Qualifications, to President of the United States Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressing interest in that post.

An Ambassadorship is, unquestionably, the best way I can fulfill what I believe is my obligation to serve the United States of America at this critical time in our nation's history.

My family immigrated to America from Sicily. Sicily, you may know, is an autonomous region of Italy and was once an independent city-state.

The Most Serene Republic Of San Marino is a country located in the Apennine Mountains which is completely surrounded by Italy.


What you may not know is that the Most Serene Republic Of San Marino is the oldest sovereign state and constitutional republic in the world. San Marino's constitution of 1600 is the world's oldest constitution still in effect.

It is the third-smallest country in Europe and has the smallest population of all the members of the Council of Europe.

Ronald P. Spogli has served concurrently as Ambassador to Italy and Ambassador to San Marino since George W. Bush appointed him in 2006. (Embassy of the United States - Rome, Italy website)

San Marino is within the jurisdiction of the Florence consular district. Consulate officials, presently, visit San Marino on a regular basis to carry out diplomatic demarches, represent U.S. interests and administer consular services.


I have my buddy Salvatore, who resides in Sicily, looking for a suitable house in Florence. As the Ambassador to the Most Serene Republic Of San Marino I'd prefer to live in the country so Sal's also looking for a place in the City of San Marino.
