Times Staff Reports Operation Santa Claus had its official statewide kickoff Nov. 4 in Montgomery and now is under way in Etowah County. This project was initiated nationwide in 1948 and began in Etowah County 24 years ago.  

    Kris Kringle dropped in on the people of Phillipsburg, Warren County, N.J. on Saturday to spread a little Christmas Cheer. Santa Claus came to the Phillipsburg Mall with an assist from the Phillipsburg High School Marching Band, and listened to the Christmas wishes of all the kids who gathered to greet him.  

It's back for the 53rd year. The annual Santa Claus Parade will take place in downtown Hamilton on Saturday. The parade starts at two pm at the corner of Main and Queen, and proceeds east on Main to John, north on John to King and west on King to Bay.
