Explanation: What do Saturn’s rings look like from the other side? From Earth, we usually see Saturn’s rings from the same side of the ring plane that the Sun illuminates them. Geometrically, in the above picture taken in April by the robot Cassini spacecraft now orbiting Saturn, the Sun is behind the camera but on the other...Read Full Story
After a long week of great weather, I wake up and its cold and cloudy on a Friday. WTF? Whatever, I have a new joint from Emilio Rojas off his upcoming project The Natural presented by Green Lantern. I always wondered if Kanye had anything to do with more and more artists coming out using just their first and last name? Nonetheless, this joint is a banger. Enjoy! Saturn's third-largest moon Dione can be seen through the haze of its largest moon, Titan, in this view of the two posing before the planet and its rings from NASA's Cassini spacecraft.
The north polar hood can be seen on Titan appearing as a detached layer at the top of the moon here. See PIA08137 and PIA09739 to learn more about Titan's atmosphere and the north polar hood.

The line of Saturn's rings disrupts the Cassini spacecraft's view of the moons Tethys and Titan. Larger Titan (3,200 miles, or 5,150 kilometers across) is on the left. Tethys (660 miles, or 1,062 kilometers across) is near the center of the image. This view looks toward the Saturn-facing sides of Tethys and Titan. The angle also shows the northern, sunlit side of the rings from less than one degree above the ring plane. The image was taken in...
SPACE.com - Physicist Jason Barnes was just six years old in 1982 when scientists first came up with the Cassini spacecraft mission that would tour Saturn's rings and moons more than two decades later. Now, a fully-grown Barnes has the even wilder idea of sending a robotic aircraft soaring through the skies of Saturn's mysterious moon Titan.

Titan and Dione, two large moons of Saturn, pose against the golden planet and its rings in this image from the Cassini spacecraft. Titan, Saturn's largest moon, is in the foreground, and is slightly blurred by its motion across Cassini's field of view. Titan has a thick, cold atmosphere that is topped by an orange haze that is similar to smog. Dione is an airless moon with an icy surface. The rings form the horizontal line behind Titan, and...
What do you get when you cross the rings and moons of Saturn? That sounds like the set-up for a joke, but for the team that processes the pictures from NASA's Cassini orbiter, the answer is totally serious: You get stunning images of the moons' interplay with the giant planet's r …
The famed jets of water ice emanating from the south polar region of the 504 km-diameter moon are faintly visible. They appear as a small white blur below the dark pole, down and to the right of the illuminated part of the moon’s surface.
The rings appear as a thin band, and their striped shadows encircle the planet's face. Titan is swathed in a dense, hazy atmosphere that obscures its surface to telescopes and cameras. In late 2004, Cassini broke apart from the Huygens probe, which landed ...
