It’s imperative that we continue down the road of putting liquidity, integrity and confidence back in the financial marketplace so that we can see the credit market free up and people having the ability to borrow money to to operate and expand their businesses. - Georgia Senator Saxby Chambliss in a campaign speech last Thursday (he is in a run-off election against Democrat Jim Martin. From Think Progress: However, Chambliss was so busy campaigning that day that he actually skipped the Senate’s vote on the Unemployment Compensation Extension Act of 2008, which extended unemployment benefits “by 13 weeks in states with an unemployment rate ... Senator Saxby Chambliss hugs his wife, Julianne, after winning a runoff election against Jim Martin with a landslide victory. Apparently, the Obama revolution only shows up when Obama is on the ballot. This was the bitter lesson learned tonight by Georgia Democrat Jim Martin after a devastating landslide 16% loss to incumbent Senator Saxby Chambliss. As evidence that the GOP is looking to cash in on Sarah Palin’s popularity, the Boston Herald today announced that she would campaign in Georgia with Saxby Chambliss on the eve of the runoff with Jim Martin. Palin will join Chambliss for four public rallies Monday in Augusta, Savannah, Perry and Atlanta in a closely watched runoff against Democrat Jim Martin. The runoff is crucial to the Democrats hopes of obtaining a filibuster proof majority. More importantly to me than even that is the fact that the man is a deplorable person who should never be in any office, much less the senate. Saxby ... Read Full Story

I hope Jim Martin beats Saxby Chambliss. I hope he beats him by a lot. Chambliss is one of the worst members on the Senate, both in terms of his unbelievably extremist voting record and in terms of his utter disregard for even the vaguest sense of personal ethics . Lately he’s taken to defending his putrid ad against Max Cleland , which even John McCain denounced as reprehensible and is now running a similar a similar smear tactic against Jim Martin. As much as his ad campaigns, Chambliss himself is reprehensible. And, like I said above, I hope Martin defeats him. So why ... Read Full Story
